On May 23, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyev met with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by the head of the IMF mission to Turkmenistan Anna Rose Bordon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IMF, including in such areas as technical assistance, advisory support and personnel training. Particular attention was paid to issues of monitoring macroeconomic indicators, exchanging statistical information and promoting structural reforms in the context of sustainable economic development of the country.
Anna Bordon highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s efforts to ensure macroeconomic stability, emphasizing the constructive nature of the current dialogue.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Fund's experts for methodological support and practical recommendations actively used in the development and implementation of economic policy, emphasizing that Turkmenistan views the IMF as an important partner in implementing reforms aimed at increasing the openness of the economy.
During the negotiations, special emphasis was placed on the development of foreign economic relations, discussion of bilateral agreements, as well as the implementation of infrastructure projects, the source notes.
