Turkmenistan Expands Partnership with OSCE

Turkmenistan is expanding its partnership with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). This was reported at a meeting of the country's Government by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov, who voiced a number of proposals aimed at developing relations with this organization.

These include carrying out the necessary work for the participation of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in the 32nd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held from June 29 to July 3 in Portugal, in the city of Porto. Within the framework of this forum, it is proposed to organize an event on the occasion of the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

Also, in accordance with the invitation of the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, on June 9, it is proposed to send the Turkmen delegation on a business trip to Poland (Warsaw) for the purpose of holding bilateral meetings with the heads and representatives of the Office, familiarizing themselves with its activities, and discussing prospects for further cooperation.

In addition, it is proposed to organize the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the Forum of the OSCE Secretary General and Heads of Border Services of Central Asian Countries, which will be held on June 18-19 in Istanbul, and to outline the main areas of Turkmenistan's work with the Organization on Border Security within its framework.

Along with this, it is proposed to organize a Regional Conference on the implementation of preventive diplomacy, the UN Security Council Agenda "Women, Peace and Security" and the relevant Security Council Resolution in this area in Ashgabat on May 27-28.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that neutral Turkmenistan pays special attention to the development of relations with international structures, including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Our country also carries out productive interaction with this Organization. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs were instructed to continue working to strengthen the partnership, TDH reports.
