The EU funded project: “EU for a green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024-2028,” implemented by GIZ supplied the newly established Information-Analytical Center, based at the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern “Turkmengas” with modern IT equipment. This marks a significant step towards Turkmenistan's transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future by enabling scientific research and analysis.
The Information and Analytical Center will significantly enhance the skills and capacities of specialists from both the State Concern "Turkmengas" and the Natural Gas Research Institute through advanced training programs, workshops, and the introduction of the latest technologies and methods. Moreover, the Center will facilitate hands-on experience with cutting edge IT equipment and measurement devices such as LDAR (leak detection and repair), improving specialists’ skills in collecting, processing, and validating data on methane emissions derived from various internation satellite sources. This comprehensive approach will contribute to improving professional skills and advancing groundbreaking scientific projects in the gas field.
The event covered the following topics:
-Handing over modern IT equipment to the Natural Gas Research Institute
-Discussions on improving the capabilities of specialists, studying, and introducing European's best scientific practices and experience in the field of green transition.
“It is essential to integrate digital systems within the scientific institutions in the gas field sector. Additionally, it is important to study and implement the EU best practices and experience in this area” noted a representative of the State Concern “Turkmengas”.
The collaborative efforts within the project “EU for a green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024-2028” aim to support Turkmenistan's transition to green energy and address the commitments outlined in the Global Methane Pledge and the Paris Agreement.
The creation of the Information-Analytical Center is expected to enhance expertise and drive forward advanced scientific projects in the gas sector.
