Turkmenistan is strengthening its status as a reliable transit bridge between Asia and Europe. According to a rapid study conducted by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in October-November 2024, the average time for transit cargo to cross the border through Turkmenistan is only 50 minutes. This is the shortest indicator in the Central Asian region. For comparison: in Kazakhstan - 2 hours 26 minutes, in Tajikistan - 1 hour 50 minutes, in Kyrgyzstan - 1 hour 28 minutes, in Uzbekistan - 1 hour 25 minutes. This was reported by the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
This result became possible due to the well-coordinated work of customs and other regulatory bodies of Turkmenistan through the use of information systems, the introduction of green corridors, and the simplification of customs procedures.
