An international conference dedicated to quality and compliance with international standards opened today in the capital of Turkmenistan. Both high-ranking representatives of the Turkmen government and international experts are taking part in the event.
The plenary session was opened by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev. Key speakers included Miles Hansen, President of The Stirling Foundation (USA), Eric Livny, Head of the Representative Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Turkmenistan, and Salih Ayvaz from the US National Accreditation Committee.
The program of the first day of the conference will include two panel discussions. The first will consider the application of international standards for the development of trade and investment activities. Speakers are expected to include Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Perhat Yagshyev and Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan Beata Peksa.
The second discussion is planned on the topic of industry standards in the agricultural sector. The report will be made by the Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan Charyyar Chetiev. There will also be presentations by specialists from Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Egypt on issues of GlobalG.A.P. standards and certification of organic products.
