President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has completed his visit to Japan and returned to his homeland, TDH reports.
As a reminder, during the visit, the head of state met with Emperor of Japan Naruhito, who highly praised Turkmenistan’s participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka and noted the country’s successes in all areas of development. During the conversation, the prospects for expanding cooperation between the two states were discussed.
Negotiations were also held with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, during which key areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited the head of the Japanese government to take part in the International Forum, which is planned to be held on December 12 in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
An important part of the visit was a meeting with representatives of Japanese business circles, which was attended by the heads of major companies, including Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries and others. As a result, a number of cooperation documents were signed.
A special event was the ceremony at the University of Tsukuba, where the President of Turkmenistan was awarded the title of “Honorary Doctor of Philosophy”. In addition, Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation Hayashi Nobumitsu.
During the visit, the Turkmen side particularly emphasized the importance of Japanese technologies and innovations for the modernization of the national economy. The parties noted the successful experience of implementing joint projects worth more than 11 billion US dollars and outlined promising areas for further cooperation, including energy, transport, logistics and environmentally friendly production.
