President of Turkmenistan invites Japanese Prime Minister to forum in Ashgabat

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo. As is known, the day before, the head of state took part in the opening ceremony of the National Day of Turkmenistan within the framework of the World Exhibition "EXPO-2025" in the city of Osaka, the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan" reports.

Following the official welcoming ceremony for the President of Turkmenistan in the Government Building of Japan, negotiations were held between the heads of the two countries with the participation of official delegations of both countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of state congratulated the head of the government of the friendly country on the grand opening of the World Exhibition "EXPO-2025" in Osaka. The President emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with Japan, and noted that an open and friendly political dialogue at the highest state level is the main condition for the development of bilateral relations.

Currently, Turkmenistan and Japan successfully cooperate in all major areas. An active political dialogue is being conducted between the two countries, trade and economic relations are developing dynamically, and cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere continues. A special place is given to inter-parliamentary relations.

In this regard, the head of state focused on priority areas of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed. Particular attention was paid to major projects implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies. Among them are plants operating throughout the country for the production of ammonia and urea, polyethylene and polypropylene, a large industrial enterprise for the production of gasoline from natural gas, and a gas turbine power plant. Citing these examples, the President confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to implement new economic projects jointly with Japanese partners.

At the end of the meeting, the President invited the Prime Minister of Japan to take part in an international forum to be held in Ashgabat in December of this year.
