The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has temporarily closed several airports in Florida after the unsuccessful launch of SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft, Argumenty I Fakty reports, citing CBS News Miami.
Miami International Airport was closed at 18:42 local time. The official notice states that the reason was a “space launch incident.”
Similar restrictions were introduced for Fort Lauderdale Airport. According to Reuters, Orlando and Palm Beach airports were also closed. These security measures are related to the potential threat of falling debris after the rocket’s emergency launch.
Earlier, SpaceX reported the loss of communication with the Starship spacecraft during its eighth test launch, which was conducted from the Starbase cosmodrome in Texas.
