Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov held a meeting with the new Ambassador of Spain Ricardo Martinez Vazquez, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. During the meeting, the diplomats discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation and outlined strategic areas of interaction between the countries. This was reported by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The Spanish Ambassador presented copies of his credentials and was warmly welcomed by the Turkmen side. Ahmet Gurbanov congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and expressed his readiness to assist his diplomatic mission in every possible way.
The parties particularly emphasized the need to intensify partnership in priority sectors, including agriculture and water management, transport and logistics, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The emphasis was placed on the development of educational programs and the popularization of the study of the Spanish language.
As part of the visit, the Spanish delegation is scheduled to meet with the leadership of about ten ministries and departments of Turkmenistan. The delegation is represented by 18 companies, including such well-known ones as Ibertest, Talgo, INDRA, Teltronic and others. Business representatives intend to discuss potential areas of economic cooperation.
Ricardo Martinez Vazquez assured that he will make every effort to develop bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Spain.
