On March 19, Ashgabat will host the international conference “International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development.” This was announced during a government meeting by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, TDH writes.
According to him, the event will bring together heads of government agencies, representatives of large companies from foreign countries, international organizations, financial institutions and diplomatic missions.
The conference program includes five thematic sessions devoted to topical issues of regional cooperation. Particular attention will be paid to the geopolitical and geoeconomic significance of energy, transport and infrastructure projects in Central and South Asia.
Participants will discuss the implementation of major international projects, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line, as well as the development of transport connectivity in the regions of Central and South Asia.
Bilateral meetings in various formats are planned on the sidelines of the conference.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the forum and instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure a high level of organization of the event, which will contribute to the development of interregional economic cooperation to ensure sustainable development.
