The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova held a meeting with the new Ambassador of Spain to Ashgabat Ricardo Martinez Vazquez, during which they discussed the development of bilateral relations and prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation. The diplomat was officially introduced to the leadership of the national parliament and familiarized with the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.
As reported by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Gulmanova greeted the diplomat and, on behalf of the head of state, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated him on his appointment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening friendly ties between the countries. During the meeting, the principles of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, based on positive neutrality, peacefulness and mutual respect, were presented in detail.
Particular attention in the conversation was paid to the structure of the Mejlis and its role in the implementation of national programs and comprehensive reforms aimed at the socio-economic development of the country. Ricardo Martinez Vazquez expressed deep gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that he considers it an honor to represent Spain in Turkmenistan.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence in the further strengthening of interstate relations and the development of fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Spain.
