President of Uzbekistan confirms participation in international forum in Ashgabat

In a letter to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev confirmed his participation in the international forum scheduled for December 12 in Ashgabat, TDH reports.

«I accept with deep gratitude your invitation to the high-level forum scheduled for December 12 this year in the unique city of Ashgabat, and it will be a great honor for me to personally take part in the anniversary celebrations,» the statement said.

Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the creative initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan at the forum, the discussion by the participants of current issues on the global agenda and sustainable development goals, as well as the final decisions of the forum will make a huge contribution to strengthening the spirit of mutual trust and solidarity.

«With common aspirations, we will achieve further strengthening of the strategic partnership, bonds of eternal friendship and good-neighborliness between our states,» he added.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his family good health, family happiness and great success, and the fraternal people of Turkmenistan – peace, tranquility and continuous progress.

The International Forum of Peace and Trust is planned to be held at the level of heads of state and heads of international structures. The event is dedicated to the proclamation by the UN General Assembly of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust on the initiative of Turkmenistan and the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.

Earlier, the invitation to participate in the upcoming forum was also received by the head of Tatarstan as part of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zeid Al Nahyan, President of Italy Sergio Mattarello, Prince Albert II of Monaco and President of Ethiopia Taye Atske-Selassie.

Turkmenistan Neutrality Day was established in honor of the unanimous adoption of a special resolution on the permanent neutrality of the country by the UN General Assembly on December 12, 1995. In 2017, on the initiative of Ashgabat, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
