Kazakhstan intends to implement a project to build a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) that will pass through Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Iran. This line will provide access to the Persian Gulf Internet. This was reported by lsm.kz with reference to the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan.
According to the department, the project is currently under discussion.
The project to lay fiber-optic communication lines along the bottom of the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is also ongoing. A joint venture with equal participation of “Kazakhtelecom” and Azertelecom has been created for this purpose. Following the tender procedures, an EPC contractor has been determined.
