The Minister of Communications of Turkmenistan spoke at the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into the Economy of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2025), presenting the country's key achievements in the field of digital transformation and outlining priority areas for foreign investment. The head of the department emphasized Turkmenistan's openness to mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of telecommunications and the digital economy.
In his report, the Minister noted Turkmenistan's significant progress in digitalization, achieved within the framework of the National Program "Digital Economy for 2021-2025". Among the most important achievements were the creation of the first smart city in Central Asia, Arkadag, 100 percent coverage of settlements with high-speed Internet, and the installation of eight interstate fiber-optic lines for data transmission.
Particular attention was paid to the start of construction in September 2024 of the Serhetabat (Turkmenistan) - Herat (Afghanistan) fiber-optic communication line, which will strengthen Turkmenistan's role as a key transit hub in Eurasia, creating the possibility of laying fiber-optic lines through the territory of Afghanistan, Pakistan to India.
The “Turkmenaragatnashyk” Agency, which is the authorized body for the development of the digital economy in the country, has outlined specific areas for potential cooperation and investment, including the development of 5G technologies, participation in space projects, cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, the creation of data centers, the production of fiber optic cable and the training of personnel in the field of digital technologies.
At the end of his speech, the Minister invited the forum participants to the international exhibition and conference "Turkmentel-2025", which will be held on November 12-14, 2025 in Ashgabat.
