Korea's Sungkyunkwan University will increase quotas and scholarships for Turkmen students

During the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Begench Durdyev with President of Sungkyunkwan University of the Republic of Korea Yoo Ji Bum, important agreements were reached in the field of education. The talks, which took place on February 10, will open up new opportunities for Turkmen students to receive a prestigious education, according to the social network page of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.

The President of the University confirmed the readiness to provide places in the Master's program in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) for graduates of Turkmen universities who have demonstrated high academic results in the field of applied sciences. Particular emphasis in cooperation will be placed on interaction with the Oguz han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.

Within the framework of expanding academic cooperation, an increase in quotas for Turkmen students and an expansion of the scholarship program were discussed. This decision will be a significant step in strengthening educational ties between the two countries.

A notable initiative was the proposal by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to introduce Turkmen language courses at Sungkyunkwan University, which will facilitate cultural exchange and expand the language skills of Korean students.

During the meeting, plans for holding international events in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the initiative to declare 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust" in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution were also discussed.

It is worth noting that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Sungkyunkwan University has a solid foundation: in 2015, the university awarded the President of Turkmenistan an honorary doctorate.
