A unique cultural event dedicated to Turkmen culture took place in the prestigious Sablon gallery district of Brussels. Traditional jewelry, carpets, textiles and other elements of decorative and applied art of Turkmenistan were presented in a separate gallery.
The event attracted a wide audience, including ambassadors, representatives of the European Union and cultural figures interested in the rich culture of Central Asia, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Belgium reported.
The exhibition, organized with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium, the Central-Asian European Creative Alliance under the leadership of Elena Haritonova and the art studio “Keshde” of Sheker Akiniyazova, became a real cultural bridge between peoples. Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov in his welcoming speech noted that culture is an integral part of the daily life of the peoples of Central Asia and Turkmenistan, emphasizing the importance of cultural dialogue and mutual understanding.
The Ambassador recalled that this year Turkmenistan celebrates the 30th anniversary of neutrality, and 2025, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, was declared the International Year of Peace and Trust by the UN,
“Culture, like neutrality, is a sphere that has no borders. It connects people, promotes mutual understanding and strengthens trust. Historically, in Turkmenistan, culture has always been associated with the unity of people. For example, common weaving looms and tamdyrs in Turkmen villages contributed to friendship and unity among neighbors. We believe that cultural bridges are the basis for peace and trust,” Palvanov said.
The exhibition paid special attention to the cultural code of Turkmenistan, reflecting the country’s centuries-old history. Guests were presented with a rich program that allowed them to better understand how cultural elements were passed down from generation to generation and are preserved in modern times. Elena Haritonova emphasized that such events play a key role in strengthening ties between peoples and promoting cultural dialogue.
“Through its culture, Turkmenistan invites to peace, cooperation and mutual understanding, proving that culture is a universal language that unites people regardless of borders and distances,” the Turkmen embassy said in a statement.
