The Turkmen dutar made a great impression on American artists who arrived in Turkmenistan on a tour.
Ahead of the tour, American performers Kate Bass, Aaron Young and Richard Steigner gave an interview in which they shared their impressions of the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
- We are very happy to visit Turkmenistan again, - Kate Bass shared her emotions. – This gave us a chance to work on a poem by Magtymguly, which we turned into a song called “I Want to Feel the Wind.” There was also room for bold experiments, which you can hear at our concerts.
Richard Steigner added:
- I was struck by the beauty of Turkmen national music. I especially want to express my gratitude to the rector of the Turkmen National Conservatory for organizing our visit to this musical forge of talent. We had the opportunity to enjoy a performance on traditional Turkmen instruments.
The Turkmen dutar impressed the guests the most, and they decided to prepare an original number that combined modern musical trends with national melodies, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
Recall that yesterday in Ashgabat, in the Palace of Mukams, a concert of American artists together with Turkmen musicians and performers took place. This concert launched a tour that Kate Bass, Aaron Young and Richard Steigner will make in Turkmenistan. Tomorrow they will perform in the city of Turkmenbashy, in the Cultural and Sports Complex of the Turkmenbashy Oil Refinery Complex of the State Concern “Turkmennebit”.
