A creative space has recently opened in Ashgabat - the ART-bazar showroom.
According to “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the project was initiated by Tajigul Kurbanova and Allaberdy Jumakulyev with the aim of creating a platform where residents and guests of Ashgabat could get acquainted with the diversity of cultural and artistic traditions of Turkmenistan.
ART-bazar is a kind of folk art museum, which contains works of decorative and applied arts artists and craftsmen.
Here you can find ceramics, paintings, felt tapestries, leather goods, mulberry paper for drawing and calligraphy, dolls and much more.
The head of the initiative group for folk arts and crafts “Design Plus” Tajigul Kurbanova says:
“The mission of ART-bazar is to tell about the talented people of Turkmenistan. To do this, we travel around the velayats, find craftsmen, unite creative people, advise them and support all this with scientific knowledge. Technical support is provided to us by the younger generation in the person of Allaberdy Jumakulyev. It helps make artisans and their products recognizable through digital technology.”
The new creative space supports local culture and boosts the tourism sector.
Guests of the ART-bazar can be inspired by art not only by looking at the collection of exhibits, but also by directly participating in the creative process and learning about the traditions and culture of the Turkmen people.
