The final, fifth volume of the book Hatyra (“Memory”) is dedicated to the memory of Turkmen soldiers who fought heroically in battles for their homeland in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, who fell on the battlefield, died from wounds in hospitals, and went missing, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The book was prepared for printing by the Main Archival Administration under the Cabinet of Ministers and published by the Turkmen State Publishing Service.

The publication opens with a congratulatory address from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“From the very beginning of that merciless war, which lasted for 1418 days, our compatriots voluntarily went to the front, where they fought side by side with fraternal nations on the fields of brutal battle, demonstrating unparalleled bravery and courage. Memories of the military valor of our glorious ancestors, the labor achievements of our compatriots are forever inscribed in golden letters in the annals of the Fatherland”, the Address says.

The fifth volume of the Hatyra book pays tribute to the heroic deeds of Turkmen soldiers from the Mary velayat. According to available data, about 21,300 people from the Mary velayat died or went missing during the Great Patriotic War.

The new edition lists the soldiers who went missing, died heroically on the battlefield, were seriously wounded, and did not return to their families in alphabetical order.

Here you will find information from historical sources, letters of various content, photographs of soldiers, news published during the war, photographs of monuments erected in the villages of the Mary velayat.

In Turkmenistan, a great deal of noble work is being done to convey to the present and future generations the significance of the great victory in this war and the feat of our compatriots who gave their lives for a peaceful and prosperous life.

A worthy contribution to this matter is made by archivists who took direct part in collecting historical materials and processing them when creating the book, the source notes.
