From 2025, new types of tourism will appear in Uzbekistan

From January 1, 2025, Uzbekistan plans to significantly expand its tourism sector by introducing a number of new and unique destinations. This initiative is aimed at increasing the country's attractiveness for local and foreign travelers, as well as developing tourism services in regions with high potential, uz.sputniknews.ru reports with reference to the Tourism Committee.

Among the new types of tourism that will be presented:

Industrial tourism, permitting guests of the country to get acquainted with production processes at various enterprises.

Geological tourism, which provides an opportunity to observe the extraction of minerals, including gold and ore, visit mines and inactive geological sites. Tourists will even be able to observe blasting operations from a safe distance and communicate with industry experts.

Scientific tourism, which opens access to the achievements of Uzbek science and technology through visits to research institutes, laboratories, observatories and planetariums.

Military tourism, including visiting historical military sites, participating in themed events and learning about the everyday life of military personnel. Of particular interest may be the opportunity to pay to shoot firearms at a specialized sports complex of the Ministry of Defense.

Public administration tourism, offering excursions to sites related to the political life and history of public administration in Uzbekistan, including visits to government buildings.

In addition, from October 1, 2025, the Samarkand International Airport plans to launch an innovative interactive portal, Tourist map. The portal will provide comprehensive information about transport hubs, attractions, catering places and routes. A special feature of the system will be the ability to create individual travel plans taking into account the preferences and time of stay of tourists, as well as the function of transferring these plans to mobile devices via a QR code.

It is important to note that the information on the portal will be available in the languages of the countries from which the largest number of tourists arrive, which will make traveling around Uzbekistan even more comfortable and accessible for foreign guests.
