Superhero Batman has become the first comic book character to be awarded a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, daily.afisha.ru reports with reference to Variety.

Burt Ward, best known for his role as Robin in the popular 1960s “Batman” TV series, was in attendance at the gala. Organizers of the event enthusiastically noted that fans of the Dark Knight around the world will be pleased to know that his star is placed alongside the names of Adam West, who played Batman in the same series, and Bob Kane, one of the creators of the iconic character.

An intriguing moment at the ceremony was the appearance of a man dressed as Batman, whose identity remains unknown.

Batman became the 2790th recipient of a star on the Walk of Fame. Although he is the first superhero to receive the honor, he is not the first fictional character – that record belongs to Mickey Mouse, who received his star back in 1978.

Batman's story began in 1939, when readers first met Bruce Wayne in the pages of Detective Comics. His name was originally written with a hyphen - Bat-Man, but soon acquired the familiar form. Along with Batman, Police Commissioner Gordon debuted, becoming a loyal ally of the superhero and later receiving the name James.
