Yesterday, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan held a meeting with a delegation from the Astrakhan Region, headed by Deputy Governor – Chairman of the Government D.A. Afanasyev. This was reported on the website of the Ministry.
The Turkmen side was represented by Deputy Minister of Education A. Atayev, as well as the head and chief specialist of the international cooperation department of the Ministry.
The parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in higher education, expressing mutual interest in strengthening ties between universities of the two countries and exchanging experience.
The Astrakhan side proposed expanding cooperation in secondary vocational education by organizing joint seminars to discuss mechanisms for effective interaction. In turn, the Turkmen representatives expressed interest in developing programs for training specialists for such industries as sea and river transport, oil and gas industry, fisheries and tourism.
The delegation of the Astrakhan Region invited Turkmen universities to take part in the Assembly of the Association of Universities of the Caspian Countries, which will be held in Astrakhan.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to continue developing bilateral relations in the field of education and vocational training.
