In 1961, Turkish Airlines pilots Zihni Barin and Nurettin made the first transatlantic flight in the company's history on an F-27.
In 1972, Turkish Airlines showed phenomenal growth: the company's capital increased by 100%, from 200 to 400 million liras.
In 1973, the Turkish Airlines fleet was replenished with the first European aircraft, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10.
In 1998, the Turkish Airlines website was launched.
In 2003, the airline began using electronic tickets and online check-in, making ticket purchasing more convenient and accessible.
