From June 10, Turkish Airlines plans to increase the number of weekly flights on the Istanbul-Ashgabat-Istanbul route to 17. This was announced by Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok during an event dedicated to Turkey Tourism Week. According to the diplomat, the number of flights has been increased from 11 to 14 per week since April 1 of this year.
The ambassador noted the growing interest of Turkmen citizens in Turkey as a tourist destination. According to official statistics, 153,688 Turkmen citizens visited Turkey in 2024, which is 27% more than the previous year.
In his speech, Ahmet Demirok also emphasized that 62.3 million tourists visited Turkey in 2024, and tourism revenue reached a record $61.1 billion. In 2025, Turkey plans to receive 65 million visitors and earn $64 billion in revenue.
Turkish Airlines, which began operations in 1933, currently operates a fleet of 472 aircraft and flies to 131 countries on 353 routes, making it the leader in terms of the number of countries served. Turkmenistan Airlines currently operates 10 flights a week on the Ashgabat-Istanbul route, Demirok added.
