Forward Artem Dzyuba set a new record, becoming the top scorer in the history of the Russian national football team. In a friendly match against Grenada, which ended with a score of 5:0, Dzyuba scored his 31st goal for the national team, surpassing the previous achievement of Alexander Kerzhakov (30 goals).
The 36-year-old forward, who plays for Tolyatti's Akron, also became the oldest scorer in the history of the Russian national team. The significant event occurred in his 56th match for the national team.
In September 2024, Dzyuba moved to Akron as a free agent, signing a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season. The forward recently set another record, becoming the top scorer among Russian football players. In the match of the 20th round of the RPL against Krylia Sovetov (2:0), he scored his 234th goal in his career, surpassing the achievement of Alexander Kerzhakov (233 goals). And in the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup against Moscow Spartak (2:3), Dzyuba scored for the 235th time.
The Russian national team will play another friendly match as part of the March training camp: on March 25 against Zambia at the Lev Yashin Dynamo Stadium in Moscow. The match is scheduled to start at 22:00 Ashgabat time.
