From March 9 to 14, a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) headed by Regional Director for Europe Brigitte Bischof Ebbesen visited Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the visit, IFRC delegates held talks with representatives of various departments and ministries.
The delegation also met with the staff of the Central Office of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan.
The main topics of discussion were:
- climate change – the impact of environmental factors on the well-being of the population and measures to adapt to climate challenges;
- cash and voucher assistance to vulnerable groups – development and implementation of mechanisms to support socially vulnerable groups of the population;
- work with youth, volunteering.
The visit of the IFRC representatives was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and once again confirms the country’s active role in ensuring peace and stability.
Within the framework of the upcoming anniversary events, Turkmenistan is holding numerous forums, conferences and meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation and humanitarian ties.
