A delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) headed by Francis Malige, Managing Director of the Financial Institutions Department, arrived in Turkmenistan to study the needs of the local banking sector and identify new areas of partnership, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
During a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova, the parties emphasized the long-term and fruitful nature of cooperation, which resulted in the implementation of more than 80 projects. Among them are projects to promote trade, production, and the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the country.
The participants In the negotiations also discussed the priority areas of the EBRD’s work in Turkmenistan, among which export orientation, interaction with the banking sector, and assistance in the implementation of modern banking practices are particularly highlighted.
As part of further cooperation, the parties discussed the preparation of the EBRD country strategy for the coming period.
