On February 28, a meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Rabab Fatima, the Mejlis website reports.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN, as well as its specialized agencies.
Dunyagozel Gulmanova acquainted the guest with the main directions of domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, the work of the national Parliament on cooperation with the UN and other international organizations in the field of improving legislation and implementing joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in Turkmenistan in the second half of this year. A Parliamentary Forum is also planned to be held within the framework of the conference.
The parties discussed organizational issues of joint events within the framework of 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, as the "International Year of Peace and Trust".
