The eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in the capital of Turkey. The delegation of Turkmenistan was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyev, and the Turkish delegation was headed by Vice President of the country Cevdet Yilmaz.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the co-chairs of the Commission noted the high level of development of bilateral relations based on the principles of equality and mutual trust. The parties expressed gratitude to the presidents of both countries for their attention to the development of interstate dialogue and emphasized the importance of the joint Commission as an effective platform for discussing topical issues of cooperation.
The participants of the meeting noted the positive dynamics of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Turkey. Energy, trade, investment, banking, transport and logistics, urban development and agriculture were named as priority areas of cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, where further steps of joint work for the current year were outlined.
The meeting also considered the possibilities of intensifying contacts in the fields of science and education, healthcare, tourism and environmental protection. Following the work of the Commission, a protocol was signed.
A separate bilateral meeting between Nokerguly Atagulyev and Cevdet Yilmaz took place on the sidelines of the meeting, during which the parties highly appreciated the current level of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the pace of development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Turkey in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
