Dragon Oil is implementing a comprehensive “zero discharge” program to protect the Caspian Sea ecosystem during the development of offshore fields. This was stated in an interview with the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper by the company’s CEO Ali Al Jarwan.
According to him, all industrial and domestic waste from offshore platforms is collected in special containers and taken to a landfill. The platforms are subject to constant environmental monitoring, including regular sampling from wells to control potential pollutants, as well as analysis of fresh and waste water.
The company has also prepared for possible emergency situations. To respond promptly in the event of an oil spill, modern equipment has been purchased to remove pollutants from the water surface and for work in the coastal zone. Special personnel have been trained to act in emergency situations.
“Ensuring the safety of operational activities and environmental protection is our priority,” Ali Al Jarwan emphasized.
