The King Salman Support and Humanitarian Aid Center donated 25 tons of dates to Turkmenistan, a Turkmenportal correspondent reports.
The official ceremony of handing over the gift took place in the building of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Ashgabat. Chargé d'Affaires Nawaf Al-Rashid took part in the event on behalf of the Embassy, and the Turkmen side was represented by officials from the Muftiate of Turkmenistan.
The donated dates will be distributed among mosques and Muslim communities throughout Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, representatives of the Muftiate of Turkmenistan expressed deep gratitude for this generous gesture, emphasizing that it reflects the strong friendly ties that unite both states.
This gift takes on special significance in the run-up to the holy month of Ramadan. According to Islamic tradition, during iftar, the evening fast, believers first quench their thirst with water and then eat dates, which begin their meal after a day of fasting.
