Georgia is ready to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in the tourism sector, including establishing direct flights. This was stated by Georgian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Konstantin Sabiashvili during an event in Ashgabat dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Georgia's independence.

“Turkmenistan is an important tourism market for Georgia, and we are ready for further cooperation, including the establishment of direct flights,” the diplomat said.

Sabiashvili stressed that Georgia attaches great importance to friendly and partnership relations with Turkmenistan. According to him, cooperation between the two countries is based on historically established good-neighborly relations and strategic geographic location.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July 16, 1992, to this day, we have achieved significant success and look to the future with optimism,” the ambassador noted.

The diplomat praised Turkmenistan's contribution to strengthening regional and global peace and security, as well as to facilitating the peace process in Afghanistan. "These efforts are vital for the peaceful development of the entire region," he stressed.

One of the main areas of interaction between the countries is the development of economic ties. Despite the growth of trade turnover, it does not yet fully reflect the existing potential, Sabiashvili noted.

In this context, the Ambassador highlighted the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan.

The priority areas of cooperation with Turkmenistan are the implementation of large regional and international transport and energy projects. "Turkmenistan has always been and remains a reliable partner in these areas," the diplomat said.

The ambassador expressed Georgia's readiness to deepen cooperation with Turkmenistan in all areas and hope for the dynamic development of relations in the coming years.
