President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the ceremonial events on the occasion of the Constitution and National Flag Day of the country, TDH reports.
The head of state laid a wreath at the Constitution Monument, located against the backdrop of the Kopetdag Mountains, and at the flagpole with the National Flag in the capital. The ceremonial event began early in the morning with the performance of the National Anthem of Turkmenistan.
The events were attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, military and law enforcement agencies. Also present were heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, honorary elders, members of the public and students. Defenders of the Fatherland lined up along the red carpet along which the President walked, and representatives of the younger generation held the National Flags of Turkmenistan in their hands.
"The Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan are symbols of national statehood that has been formed over hundreds of years. They are an inexhaustible source of pride, honor and dignity of the people, the embodiment of its great achievements and prosperity, authority on the world stage" the President's address to citizens noted.
After laying flowers at the Monument to the Constitution, the solemn ceremony continued at the flagpole with the Main Flag of the country.
