Turkmenistan held ceremonial events to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, war veterans and spouses of fallen soldiers were presented with cash and valuable gifts, TDH reports.
The central ceremony was held in the capital's Mekan Palace, where an exhibition of materials from the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, including front-line letters, was organized for the participants of the celebration. The event opened with a literary and musical composition, including songs from the war years.
The ceremony participants expressed deep gratitude to the country's leadership for state support of veterans and preserving the memory of the people's feat during the war. The presentation of gifts is taking place in accordance with the recently signed Decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
"The current celebrations reflect the veneration of the unparalleled heroism of war participants and the dedication of home front workers, their contribution to the patriotic education of youth and strengthening the unity of the people," the statement said.
Similar ceremonies of presenting gifts on behalf of the head of state are taking place in all velayats, cities and etraps of Turkmenistan.
