The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has included the “Turkmenistan Flying Disc Public Union” (TFDPU) into the organization as the 114th national member. The corresponding decision was approved by the WFDF Congress, the federation's official website reports.

TFDPU is actively working to develop flying disc sports in Turkmenistan. Currently, most athletes are united in four clubs operating in Ashgabat. The organization holds regular training sessions and national tournaments to popularize this sport.

The sport of flying discs was introduced to Turkmenistan in 1997. Since then, the number of adherents of this discipline has been constantly increasing.

“We are pleased to welcome Turkmenistan to the WFDF family,” said Robert Rauch, head of the World Flying Disc Federation.

TFDPU Chairman of the Board Adyl Bagirov noted: "Our doors are always open to all enthusiasts of this dynamic sport. We invite everyone to join our community, regardless of age and level of training. Together we can take the sport of flying discs in Turkmenistan to a new level."

It is worth noting that Turkmen athletes are already participating in various international tournaments. Membership in the WFDF will expand opportunities for participation in world-class competitions and gain access to coach training programs.

In August 2015, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized flying disc as an Olympic sport, but the discipline has not yet been included in the Games program.
