Turkmenistan has adopted amendments and additions to the law "On Migration". The corresponding decree was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and entered into force on April 18, 2025 - from the moment of official publication, the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.
According to the new amendments, an electronic visa (e-Visa) is defined as a document issued electronically in the information system of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. This document will allow foreigners to enter the country, stay on its territory, leave, and transit through Turkmenistan.
An important innovation was the abolition of the need to issue and issue invitations for arrival in the country when receiving an electronic visa. Instead, the system will automatically send notifications to diplomatic missions, consular offices and migration services of Turkmenistan.
Categories and types of electronic visas, the procedure for their registration, issuance and extension of validity will be established directly by the President of Turkmenistan. Forms of electronic applications, the list of required documents and samples of electronic visas are approved by the State Migration Service of the country.
This innovation is intended to simplify visa procedures and make Turkmenistan more accessible to foreign tourists and businessmen.
