1. The annual Paripalli Gajamela festival took place in the Indian state of Kerala, where dozens of elephants, decked out in colorful costumes, walked through the streets of cities to the accompaniment of trumpets and drums. More than fifty elephants, dressed in elaborate harnesses and decorated with bells, became the main participants in the colorful parade. The procession featured hundreds of musicians performing traditional songs, melodies and dance numbers. This Hindu festival, which is part of centuries-old rituals, has deep symbolic meaning.
