A new project, “Athlete of the Month,” is being launched in Turkmenistan. The names of candidates will be announced at the beginning of each month, and the results will be summed up at the end, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.
The Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports nominated seven athletes who distinguished themselves in international competitions in various disciplines to participate in the first vote. You can vote for one of them by sending a special digital code to 0518.
The project is accompanied by a TV show on the channel "Türkmenistan Sport", the host of which will be a student of the faculty of sports journalism Parakhat Mammetnurov. During the month, viewers will be shown videos about the candidates, their training, performances and achievements.
The nominees include representatives of six sports:
- weightlifter Shakhzadbek Matyakubov (code 7);
- kurash wrestler Sabina Kadyrova (code 8);
- belt wrestler Nurmuhammet Baidogdyev (code 9);
- belt wrestler Guvanch Hemraev (code 10);
- judoka Maysa Pardaeva (code 11);
- chess player Amanmuhammet Hommadov (code 12);
- karateka Gulnabad Yazylova (code 13).
The winner who gets the most SMS votes will receive valuable gifts, a certificate of honor and will become the hero of a special TV film. The voting results will be published on the website turkmentv.gov.tm.
The project’s organizers are the "Turkmenistan Sport" TV channel, the "Mahabat" Department of the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, and the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports.
