Turkmen tennis players started with a victory in the preliminary round of the qualification of the world championship among girls under 14 years old in the city of Isa Town (Bahrain), having won a confident victory over the Bangladesh team with a score of 3:0. This was reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The qualifying tournament of the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) jointly with the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), is attended by 18 teams divided into 6 groups. The Turkmenistan team is playing in Group “C” together with the teams of Bangladesh and Oceania.
In the opening match against Bangladesh, the Turkmen tennis players demonstrated a confident game. In singles matches, Nazli Hudaykulieva defeated Jannat Howlader (6:0, 6:1), and Aylar Kakabaeva confidently defeated Humirai Haider Zar (6:1, 6:1). In the doubles game, Sahra Garakhanova and Nazli Khudaykulieva defeated the duo of Jannat Howlader and Sarah Alz-Jasim in two sets (6:3, 6:0).
The next opponent of the Turkmenistan team will be the Oceania team, which also previously beat Bangladesh with a score of 3:0.
The winners of the groups will advance to the final stage of the qualification, scheduled for April 2-14, 2025 in Malaysia. Based on its results, the two best teams of the Asia and Oceania zone will have the right to compete in the final tournament with the participation of 16 strongest teams from all continents.
The ITF Junior Team Competitions are held among girls and boys of two age categories – up to 14 and 16 years old. These tournaments give young athletes the opportunity to gain international experience and feel the unique atmosphere of team play, representing their country.
