Streaming giant Netflix has released a trailer for the new film Joy, which tells the story of a revolutionary breakthrough in reproductive medicine – the development of the in vitro fertilization (IVF) method. The drama is scheduled to premiere on November 22, daily.afisha.ru reports.
The film is set In the 1970s and focuses on a group of scientists who seek to help women with fertility problems become mothers. The scientists face stiff resistance from society, which considers their work unethical.
The leading role of a young lab technician is played by Thomasin McKenzie, familiar to viewers from the film Jojo Rabbit. The cast also includes James Norton (Little Women) and Bill Nayey (Love Actually).
The title of the film Joy pays tribute to Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first child born with the help of IVF in 1978 in Manchester, UK.
