President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received an invitation from Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni to visit the country at any convenient time, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Negotiations between Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Giorgi Meloni took place on the sidelines of the “Central Asia – Italy” summit in Astana.
The parties noted the progressive development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the oil and gas sector, transport sector, textile industry and interaction between business circles.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the significant potential for expanding cooperation in the energy and chemical industries, development of railway infrastructure, environmental protection, agriculture and water management. In order to systematize trade and economic cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan proposed creating a coordination mechanism in the format of an intergovernmental commission or business council.
The head of state also invited the Italian Prime Minister to Ashgabat for the Forum of Peace and Trust, which will be held on December 12 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
