The NASA space agency reported the approach of two large potentially dangerous asteroids to our planet. These space objects are expected to pass close to Earth on December 3 and 4, writes AiF with reference to Newsweek.
The sizes of the asteroids are 402 and 387 meters, which is comparable to the height of the famous New York skyscraper Empire State Building. Despite their impressive size, scientists do not consider these objects critically dangerous.
According to experts’ calculations, one of the asteroids will pass at a distance of about two million kilometers from Earth, and the second – more than five and a half million kilometers.
NASA has clear criteria for determining the potential threat of space objects. An asteroid is considered dangerous if its diameter exceeds 140 meters and its trajectory passes closer than seven and a half million kilometers from our planet.
