In the fall of 2025, the Russian national football team may take part in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) tournament, Russian media reports.
The matches are expected to take place from September 1 to 9. CAFA Cup will feature six teams from the region – Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, as well as two invited teams, which may include Valery Karpin's team.
The first ever CAFA Cup was held in June last year in Bishkek and Tashkent. The winner of the tournament was the Iranian team, which beat Uzbekistan in the final (1:0).
