Uzbekistan shows great interest in long-term import of Turkmen natural gas and cooperation in the fuel and energy complex (FEC). This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov at the international conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2024».
Mirzamakhmudov noted that Uzbekistan is interested in projects for geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons, as well as in long-term supplies of Turkmen gas. He emphasized that the stable growth of the economy of Uzbekistan implies further maintenance of demand for traditional energy resources, the consumption of which increases by 10-15% annually.
According to the chairman of the state concern «Turkmengas» Maksat Babayev, since the beginning of 2024, Turkmenistan has exported 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Uzbekistan.
The conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2024» is being held in Ashgabat from October 23 to 25, one of the key topics of which is the assessment of the export markets for Turkmen gas and the progress of the TAPI gas pipeline construction.
