Turkmenistan approves new procedure for providing medical care to HIV-infected people

The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan has approved a new procedure for providing medical care when identifying individuals with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Order No. 297 was signed on July 15, 2024, by the Minister of Health M. Mamedov.

The new procedure defines the rules for providing various types of medical care to HIV-infected individuals, including primary health care, specialized, high-tech and palliative care. The document also regulates the work of specialized departments for the treatment of patients with HIV.

According to the order, individuals with HIV infection are guaranteed free access to the necessary medications. Particular attention is paid to providing assistance in case of concomitant diseases and emergency conditions.

The new procedure is aimed at improving the quality and availability of medical care for HIV-infected citizens of Turkmenistan.

The new procedure was registered by the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan on August 8, 2024 under registration number 1819.
