In Istanbul, the Artizan Sanat visual arts center is hosting an exhibition of works by Italian artist Francesca Biondi, dedicated to her travels through Asian countries, Anadolu Agency reports.
Biondi is trying to convey in his paintings the impressions of the trip he took in 2018-2020. She hitchhiked to 15 Asian countries, including Turkmenistan. According to the artist, this helped to better understand local traditions and culture.
In each country, Biondi stayed in local houses. This allowed her to get acquainted with the life and customs of different peoples.
The 21 oil paintings on display were painted by Biondi after his return. The artist says that she tried to convey in them the best memories of the places she visited.
“I gave the original portraits to the people I painted, so that it would become an unforgettable gift for them. And copies are on display here,” noted Biondi.
In addition to Turkmenistan, 14 more countries were reflected in Biondi’s canvases: Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Nepal and Pakistan.
According to the artist, the project gave her the opportunity to broaden her horizons and meet new people. She plans to continue exploring Asia and take a new trip to the region.
An exhibition of works by Francesca Biondi, entitled Towards East, will run at the Artizan Sanat art center in Istanbul until January 20.
